Tanjiro Kamado is the protagonist of the anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He makes his first appearance in the first episode of the anime, "Cruelty".
Tanjiro begins his life as a kind and compassionate young man who helps his family by selling charcoal. His life is shattered when he returns home one day to find his family slaughtered by a demon. The only survivor is his younger sister, Nezuko, who has been transformed into a demon herself.
Driven by a desire to avenge his family and restore Nezuko's humanity, Tanjiro embarks on a perilous journey to become a demon slayer. He trains rigorously under the guidance of a former Demon Slayer Corps member, learning the Water Breathing technique.
Throughout the series, Tanjiro faces numerous powerful demons, honing his skills and developing new fighting techniques, including the Hinokami Kagura, a sun-breathing style passed down through his family. He fights alongside his comrades, Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira, building strong bonds of friendship and loyalty as they confront the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji.
